Mark Wright: I turned down Celebrity Big Brother to stay on TOWIE!

Mark Wright has revealed he turned down a deal reportedly worth £250,000 to enter Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5 later this month in order to stay on The Only Way Is Essex. Taken to Twitter to discuss recent reports, the reality telly hunk confirmed he wouldn't be leaving the ITV2 series.

It was reported this morning that Mark was thinking of leaving the show in order to take up an offer to appear in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother, following in the steps of fellow TOWIE star Amy Childs.

ITV2 bosses are understood to have banned the stars from appearing on rival shows, including Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing, meaning to take up offers the they'd have to quit the show.


Mark said on Twitter: "4 the people asking I can confirm that I did turn down an offer from CBB. I am not leaving towie as its in my heart. X [sic]

Amy Childs however has quit the show in order to appear on the new series of the hit reality format, which is being relaunched on Channel 5 on August 18.

She said in a statement: "I've had a brilliant time on TOWIE and loved every minute of it. I will really miss everyone. I so wanted to stay on, but I’m looking forward to what the future will bring and it’s very exciting.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all my loyal fans for their amazing support. I promise that I will let you know about all my exciting news as soon as I can.”

Celebrity Big Brother 2011 starts on August 18 on Channel 5 at 9PM.
