TOWIE star Joey Essex banned from releasing his debut single 'REEM'

Makers of The Only Way Is Essex have banned star Joey Essex from releasing his debut single 'REEM' for download. According to the Daily Star Sunday, programme makers told Joey that if he went ahead with the release he'd be axed from the ITV2 reality series.

Joey signed a six-figure record deal with 360 Records earlier this year, with a source telling News of The World about the deal last month: “The TOWIE cast are all household names now especially among teenagers who buy music online. Joey could have a big hit on his hands.”

But Joey, whose catchphrase "Reem" means cool, has had to pull plans to record a video and perform the track live on T4 On The Beach.

A source close to him told the tabloid: "Joey was all set to film the video on Tuesday but TOWIE producers gave him the ultimatum on Monday night.

"Lime Pictures expressed concern at Joey’s popularity being too big for the show and have asked him to distance himself from any promotion to do with the record.

"Although Joey wasn’t told legally he couldn’t release the single, it was made very clear that he wouldn’t be signed for the third series if he did."

However a pal added: "TOWIE bosses are wanting to bring out a Christmas single featuring all the cast and didn’t want Joey releasing anything first. He’s gutted."

Thanks to the wonders of the internet however you can listen to Joey Essex's debut single Reem here!
