She may be well known for her Essex accent and charm, but singer turned telly presenter Stacey Solomon said taking part in The Only Way In Essex "wasn't her". The former X Factor finalists told the Daily Star today that she declined a role in the hit ITV2 reality series.
The Sing If You Can presenter said: "I was offered a part in The Only Way Is Essex but I just couldn't do it. I love the show but it's just not me."
She added: "People need to realise the whole of Essex is not like that! It's a big county and I think Essex people are embarrassed by the show. People think we're all like that."
Going on to hit out at the show, Stacey continued: "It's reality and then it isn't. It's scripted reality. Don't get me wrong, the The Only Way Is Essex girls always look so gorgeous and glamorous, but I couldn't dress like them. You see them wearing a slinky body-con dress and heels just to go to the park! I'd rather chuck on jogging bottoms and a baggy T-shirt."
And the Essex beauty said we shouldn't expect to see her in any more reality shows any time soon. "I'd have to have all my family involved and I just said no - they really aren't into that," Stacey told the tabloid.
She added: "Everyone would know my personal life and I can't do it. I couldn't even do a fly-on-the-wall documentary because they know everything about you. I love the fact that I can go home and my boyfriend is my boyfriend and my mum is just my mum. And they've got nothing to do with anything that I do. That's my normality."
Catch Stacey Solomon in Sing If You Can this Saturday at 7PM on ITV1.
