Gareth Thomas has reportedly quit The Jump 2017 just days before this Sunday's live final.

The rugby star isn't injured, instead leaving due to "personal reasons", according to The Sun newspaper.

The tabloid also reports that Lydia Bright, who was the last celeb to be eliminated in the weekend's show, will return to take his place in the final.

“Gareth was devastated to have to leave. He’s had the time of his life and thought he was in with a shot of winning," a source spilled to the newspaper.

They added: “He’s left due to personal reasons and has travelled back home from Austria to be with his family.

“Lydia was obviously gutted to hear that Gareth had to quit but she’s thrilled to be back in the competition as his replacement.”

Gareth is the fourth person to withdraw from The Jump 2017, following models Caprice Bourret and Vogue Williams as well as Olympian Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Caprice left due to illness while last Sunday night saw Sir Bradley step down from the show after suffering a fracture in his leg.

Explaining his injury, the champion cyclist said: "They told me it's a non-displaced fracture, which means I'm out the competition in layman's terms."

Vogue meanwhile was forced out before the first show, injuring her knee while training.

The Jump 2017 is back on Sunday night for the final episode of this year's series.

Those in the final are Kadeena Cox, Lydia Bright, Emma Parker-Bowles, Jason Robinson, Amy Willerton, Spencer Matthews and Louis Smith.

The Jump concludes Sunday night on Channel 4.
