The Island 2017 contestant Phil Coates has spoken out after being voted off the show.
In a first for the Channel 4 series, the group of contestants decided to hold a vote to get one of their own kicked off the island.
And although there was nothing stopping him from ignoring the outcome, he respected the decision of the group with nine wanting him to go to six voting for him to stay.
“I was rather aghast," recalled Phil this week. "I could sense something was brewing that morning tensions were high. We had experienced another night of torrential rain."
Jane Gates and Karen Bretagne instigated the vote after rows with Phil throughout the previous week on the island.
A number of others got on board as Phil was voted out by the majority of the group.
However he insisted to the Radio Times that there were "no hard feelings" and he had no regrets about his time on the show.
Phil explained: “It has taught me so much about myself and others. It has added to the growing rich tapestry of my life.
“I have become more accepting of others, their foibles, their perspectives on lives, their thinking and actions. I am eternally grateful that this experience was our choice. And now, I will be doing more humanitarian and charity work.”
The Island with Bear Grylls 2017 continues Monday nights at 9PM on Channel 4.
