The Island 2017 contestant in bloody knife accident: "I've cut the end off"

The Island with Bear Grylls continues tonight with a bloody knife accident and a shock vote off.

Series 4 of The Island kicked off last weekend on Channel 4.

For its new season, The Island with Bear Grylls is featuring a different twist: A generation divide.

This year's 16 castaways were split in to two groups - the young and the old, and made up of all genders.

The show will examine which ages cope best with the tough conditions, having started the show on separate islands.

Last Monday's second episode saw the two groups come together but it was far from harmonious with some explosive rows between the contestants.

Starving and dehydrated, one couldn't handle it and 18-year-old Freddie Wilson, a gap year student from Argyll, decided to quit.

After leaving just two weeks in, some of the other Islanders weren't impressed.

Kaggy Burn complained: "I'm sorry but I would not be proud of myself if I left after week two, he's a quitter at the end of the day and I haven't got a lot of time for quitters."

Tonight the drama continues on The Island with more clashes between the young and old.

Now living side by side, the islanders are hoping to hit their stride but the lack of food is an ever-pressing concern, and tempers are fraying.

Jordan is feeling out of sorts and then has a fight with Richie while the group are furious when Phil uses some olive oil to boost the fire rather than for food.

There's soon another bust up, bringing relations to breaking point. Could a shocking vote see the islanders turn on one of their own?

Meanwhile, another Islander faces a medical emergency after an accident with a knife.

The Island with Bear Grylls airs at 9PM tonight on Channel 4.
