The Island with Bear Grylls got off to its best start ever in the ratings last night.
The new season began yesterday evening as Bear dropped off two groups of new Islanders, one of men and the other of women, on opposite sides of an uninhabited pacific island.
It was a dramatic opening episode with one contestant quitting just a day in while another was treated for a nasty scorpion bite.
It's the first time that both sexes have shared the same land on The Island and viewers clearly enjoyed it.
The third series of the show opened up with impressive 2.6 million viewers in the 9PM Easter Monday slot.
That's up a million viewers on last year's Season 2 premiere (which aired on a Wednesday) and 700,000 up on 2014's run in the same slot.
However it wasn't actually Channel 4's most watched show of the evening with that title going to Guy Martin's Wheel of Death Live, seen by average audience of close to 3 million viewers.
Elsewhere, on BBC One, the Marvel Avengers Assemble movie posted a figure of 3.1 million viewers while ITV came out on top of the night with Rowan Atkinson's Maigret debuting to 5.8 million viewers.
