The Island with Bear Grylls contestant Lauren Morton has had DEATH threats after she was seen killing a pig on the show.
The 26-year-old Nurse from West Yorkshire is one of the youngest women on The Island but took on the challenge of preparing one of the group's few big catches.
She was seen 'dispatching' of a pair of piglets which the girls had named Sage and Onion, leading to a surprising amount of hate and even death threats online.
"We got quite a bit of hate mail - or I did, specifically, because I killed them," Lauren revealed. "I think someone said, 'I'd like to slit your throat'. I reported them to Twitter and blocked straight away.
"I think people struggle with the reality of where meat comes from."
Meat eater Lauren however doesn't have any regrets and reckons that the experience has made her a better, stronger person.
She explained to the Daily Express: "I know now I can eat meat, and if it comes down to it I can kill it.
"We hadn't eaten in 12 days. When people watch it they watch the show with a full belly and they're warm in the comforts of their home. It's quite hard to relate to actually what 12 days without food feels like."
Lauren added: "You stop seeing animals as pets or animals - you just view them as a food source."
Series 2 of The Island with Bear Grylls continues with the latest from the women's island on Wednesday night on Channel 4 at 9PM.
