Lord Sugar concerned over lack of female applicants for The Apprentice 2013

Lord SugarLord Sugar has appealed for more females to apply for The Apprentice 2013 after producers were 'swamped' with interest from male hopefuls.

According to The Sun, the business tycoon is worried that the girls won't be able to compete with the boys unless more of them get on board.

He Tweeted yesterday: "Application still open for The Apprentice come on ladies show me what you can do, not just the blokes."

This year's series was dominated by guys, with Jade Nash - the only girl to make the final - being eliminated in fourth place.

Three of the show's eight series so far have been won by females - Michelle Dewberry in 2006, Yasmina Siadatan in 2009, and Stella English in 2010.

Applications for the next run close at midnight on Sunday - if you're interested in taking part, click here.

Lord Sugar will return to BBC One in the Autumn with a third series of Young Apprentice.
