The Apprentice 2019 set to feature show’s first ever blind candidate

The Apprentice 2019 will feature the BBC One show’s first ever blind contestant, a report suggests.

Lord Alan Sugar’s business competition has occasionally attracted criticism for its lack of disability representation – even from the BBC itself.

However, it appears The Apprentice will mark a major turning point in its upcoming fifteenth series.

According to The Sun, a blind candidate is among sixteen budding entrepreneurs who will enter the boardroom this year.

The newspaper published a picture supposedly taken during filming in London last week, which features the male contender using a white cane.

They will be the first blind person to compete in The Apprentice since it hit our screens in 2005.

“It’s amazing that given how long the show has been running they’ve not had a blind contestant until now,” an insider commented.

“The hopeful in question shot several takes with the rest of this year’s wannabes.

“He was treated just like any other member of the production, and rightly so, and will be hoping that he can go a long way in the competition.”

An Apprentice spokesperson refused to comment on the contestant’s identity.

“We are not able to reveal any details about the candidates until nearer the show airing later this year,” they said.

The new series is expected to begin in October, with Lord Sugar once again offering a huge investment to the winner.

Earlier this year, the Celebrity Apprentice was brought back for the first time in a decade.

Omid Djalili was the unlucky star fired during the two-episode special, which raised thousands of pounds for Comic Relief.
