Ambitious Apprentice winner has insisted he isn't far more than just a wacky inventor, saying he wants to be known instead as a successful inventor. Speaking to the Sunday Mirror today, the 32-year-old revealed he aimed to become bigger than British designer Sir James Dyson.
“I am determined not to just be known as a wacky inventor but also a successful inventor," he told the tabloid following his win on the show earlier this month. "In the boardroom I said I believed I could be bigger than Dyson. It was said in the heat of the moment but it’s a great aspiration to have and one I think I can achieve.”
After winning the series Tom is now set to have lunch with Lord Sugar to discuss how his new business will work, and what the £250,000 prize business investment will be spent on.
"I have to admit, I’m pretty nervous," Tom said. “We’re going out soon and I don’t know where we’re eating so I’ve got no idea what I’m going to wear.
“Lord Sugar’s pretty much as he is on the show which is one of the main reasons why he’s such a success, but it does make chatting to him a bit nerve-racking.”
But it's not all business and work talk for Tom, who revealed he's planning to wed his fiancé Sarah Fawcus as soon as possible. Then pair met just weeks before filming for the show started last year. "We’re very similar people," Tom says. "She’s a structural engineer so she likes design, she loves fancy dress just like me and she’s a lot of fun.
“She’s even more dyslexic than I am because I can notice mistakes in her texts and emails and that’s very unusual. She bought me a tandem for my birthday and we go out on it all the time. It’s awesome, really hilarious."
