Apprentice winner Tom Pellereau has suggested that his losing streak on the show may have actually helped him to win the series. Speaking to The Sun after last night's final, Tom said he spent so much time with Lord Sugar in the boardroom it helped the pair to bond.
Around 10 million viewers tuned into last night's series climax as Lord Sugar named Tom his new business partner and the winner of a £250,000 investment.
Tom, who won just 3 out of 11 tasks, confessed: "I am probably the most unlikely winner ever. I certainly have broken the record for the worst record - nobody has ever lost eight tasks and reached the final before. I am just elated.
"If it was just about a job, I wouldn't have had a hope, but Lord Sugar saw in me someone who can continuously bring new ideas to the table."
Tom convinced Lord Sugar that his business involving a range of products from back-supporting chairs to curved nail files would make millions.
But Tom said: "By losing I had a lot of time with Lord Sugar from very early on, which really helped. I knew he saw something he liked in me, but I knew I was the underdog."
