Fired Apprentice hopeful Edna Agbarha says she expected Zoe Beresford to get the chop

Zoe Beresford

Fired Apprentice candidate Edna Agbarha said today she as expecting to see project manager Zoe Beresford get the chop in last night's show, adding that she blew it in the boardroom by bragging about her qualifications. The 36-year-old became the latest business hopeful to be axed by Lord Sugar in a scrap yard task.

Edna and her Venture team led by Zoe narrowly lost out in the task, with just £6 separating the two teams despite Venture losing both clearing contracts.

Edna said today: "I was expecting Zoe to go because she was shambolic. Then when it came to me I overplayed my qualifications and underplayed my experience. I can see now it was the wrong thing to do.

"He doesn't respect the academic side and I knew that before I went in."

Lord Sugar said he had "forgiven" Zoe for her mistakes in the task, but added she was on her last life in the show. "You lost it, by your own admission you lost it, and I'm pleased that you admitted that you lost it... but there's a limit to how long I'm going to put up with someone telling me, 'I got this wrong, I got that wrong'," Lord Sugar told her.

Meanwhile he told Edna: "You are highly qualified at what you do, but I think what I've seen here in the last couple of weeks, and in particular today, is that you are someone that wants to take the credit for a lot of things and it just doesn't stack up,"

"I just don't think you and I are going to gel in business. You're fired."

But the business psychologist added: "I'm not taking it personally."

The Apprentice 2011 continues next Wednesday at 9PM on BBC One.
