The Apprentice 2011 returns with a whopping audience of 7.8 million


The Apprentice 2011 returns with a huge audience of 7.8 million on Tuesday, peaking with 8.4 million viewers making it the most watched launch show since 2007. The programme, which saw the sixteen new candidates task with making a profit on £250 worth of fruit and veg, was easily the most watched show at 9PM.

2.8 million viewers tuned into BBC Two to watch Dara O'Briain interview the first fired candidate of the series Edward hunter.

Meanwhile on BBC Three, the Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final attracted just under 500,000 viewers for the first round, with a second round featuring X Factor stars Jedward to air this week.

On Sky Living, Katie Price saw her ratings climb slightly on the week, albeit raising to only 270,000.

The Apprentice 2011 continued last night on BBC One and will continue to air in the Wednesday 9PM slot for the next 10 weeks.
