Lord Sugar today said one of the reasons behind changing this year's prize on The Apprentice was him not wanting to get bored doing the show! Speaking ahead of the new series, which launches next Tuesday on May 10 at 9PM on BBC One, Sugar also revealed this year's candidates got off to a useless start.
This year The Apprentice boss Lord Alan Sugar has seemingly taken a tip from the BBC’s other business show, Dragons’ Den. Instead of a job with a six-figure salary, this year's winning will receive a £250,000 cash injection - plus Lord Sugar's help, experience and contacts - into their business.
Lord Sugar said: “I want to be happy doing The Apprentice again. I don’t want to get bored, I want to be motivated.”
The electronics tycoon said he wanted people to start their own businesses, despite the tough climate. “If that makes me stupid and old-fashioned then have me put down," he joked.
However despite the show attracting some of the brightest brains in Britain, the candidates struggle in their first task next week when they're asked to sell fruit and veg, with two candidates having trouble to recognise an orange.
