The Apprentice 2016 candidates take on luxury goods in latest task

Here's a spoiler-filled preview of The Apprentice 2016 tonight as candidates take on luxury goods.

From £1,000 scarves and bags to cat couture, this evening's episode sees the remaining candidates trying to woo some of London’s most discerning shoppers.

At the top of the show, Lord Sugar summons the two teams to the Draper’s Hall where they learn that for their next task they will each be taking over a department of the world-famous department store Liberty of London.

The teams have to introduce a new product line to promote and sell in the store as well as run a personal shopping service for some of London’s most discerning shoppers.

It doesn't sound like the most ideal task for IT project manager Karthik Nagesan.

He says: “I believe that the ability of a fish should not be judged on how well it can climb a tree. You know monkeys climb trees, fish swim in the sea. My skills are elsewhere.”

But Karthik’s personal shopping style pleasantly surprises Claude Littner, which is more than can be said for the other team.

Their personal shoppers fail to confirm their client’s budget or sizes ahead of their appointment, resulting in an awkward exchange on meeting them.

Meanwhile, in a bid to boost footfall and hopefully sales, the two teams each take over a window display to promote their products.

Rebecca prepares for her role as part of the window display: “If I’m in a window, I will be trying to pull a very straight face.”

With each candidate out for themselves, it’s a race to the finish line. Exploiting the impulse buyers of London comes easily for some as sales lead to rewards. For others, it’s a nightmare as sales are at a standstill.

In the Boardroom, the candidates are ready to hang each other out to dry. Sales are totted up and revealed, but only one team’s story has a happy ending. But which candidate finds their customer service isn’t up to scratch and this will be the last chapter in their Apprentice story, as they hear the words “You’re Fired”?

The Apprentice 2016 airs Thursday night on BBC One from 9PM.
