The Apprentice 2016 spoilers! Candidates tackle candy in tonight's task

The Apprentice 2016 latest

The Apprentice 2016 continues tonight as the candidates take on candy in Brighton.

After last week's utter dismal result from both teams, Lord Sugar decides it’s time to mix up the boys and girls.

Failure is not an option this week, and he appoints the two candidates he believes will make the strongest project managers: Baker Alana Spencer and Sausage baker Oliver take charge.

It is a sticky task ahead, as the candidates must design and manufacture their own brand of sweets and head to the sunny coastal city of Brighton and Hove to sell them.

In the kitchen, the pressure is on to create a range of tasty sweet treats. One team opts for a traditional seaside theme, while the other focuses on flavours for a more sophisticated palate. Once decided, the teams continue to work late into the night in a bid to make sure they have enough products to fulfil orders and to sell the following day.

In the kitchen there are tears from Alana while Oliver finds himself in a very stick situation trying to roll out rock.

The next day, teams must both sell to the trade and public on Brighton seafront in a bid to make the most profit.

Karthik Nagesan is in his element as he employs an interesting sales patter with the Brighton crowds: “Suck it, who wants to suck it?!”

He then tells cameras: “This is it, you know, I may be a project IT manager but I think deep inside, I’m the best salesman in the universe. Not in the world – in the universe.”

As the day draws to a close, the teams make a desperate attempt to flog the last of the sweets and tempers at boiling point one team are left squabbling on the sea front about the lack of sales.

It’s a long drive back to the boardroom. As Lord Sugar chews over what went wrong, it’s not long until the blame spreads like molten sugar through the losing team. But who will be the next candidate to hear the crushing phrase ‘You’re fired?’

Tune in to find out who is first to hear Lord Sugar’s immortal words ‘You’re Fired’ on Thursday 20th October, 9pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.

And you can catch the fired candidate with Rhod Gilbert on You're Fired at 10PM on BBC Two.
