The Apprentice 2015: Dara Ó Briain quits You're Fired spin-off

Dara Ó Briain has quit The Apprentice spin-off show You're Fired after five years.

Dara confirmed he would not be returning to front the BBC2 series when The Apprentice returns to our screens for its eleventh series later this year.

"After five years hosting You're Fired, I've decided to pass the chair on to someone else," Dara is quoted as saying by the Press Association. "In that time, I've interviewed 84 wannabe apprentices.

"If I interview any more, I'll turn into Claude Littner. Mainly though, I'm back on tour again this year and I'd like to enjoy getting laughs off my own incompetence for a while."

He added: "Best of luck to whoever takes over the chair, you'll have lots of fun with them."

The Apprentice and You're Fired boss Patrick Holland commented: "Dara has been an absolutely fantastic host of You're Fired, bringing his hilarious observations, sharp insights and terrific sense of fun to the show.

"It has been a great privilege to work with him and we wish him the very best with his next projects."

It means that this year's Apprentice will see a number of changes with Lord Sugar's adviser Nick Hewer having also left after a decade on the show.

The Apprentice 2015 will air on BBC One in the autumn.
