Three more candidates were fired by Sir Alan Sugar in tonight's episode of The Apprentice 2014 ahead of the show's finale.

Solomon Akhtar, Roisin Hogan and Daniel Lassman were given their marching orders after failing to impress in the annual interviews stage.

With the feedback in from his trusted advisors - Claude Littner, Claudine Collins, Mike Soutar and former winner Ricky Martin - Lord Sugar called the final five in to the boardroom for his verdicts on their business plans.

First, he addressed Solomon, saying: "You are very intelligent, but when I think about us working together, I’m struggling. Claude reckons that you’re going to go somewhere one day, but not now. Solomon, you’re fired."

The tycoon then turned to Roisin - and tore her proposal to shreds.

"I looked at your business plan, and in the first year you’re going to spend £750,000. I’m going to give you £250,000, where’s the other £500,000 coming from?" he asked.

"There’s bank financing available," the accountant replied.

"I’m not going to any bloody bank, I want to prove a point here like I have for the last few years," snapped an unimpressed Lord Sugar.

"The whole point of this is to prove that we can start a business with £250,000 and stop dreaming about other people’s money. This business idea in your mind is a runner, and in my mind it is not. You're fired."

With two down, Daniel, Bianca Miller and Mark Wright left the boardroom momentarily before returning to find out who else had been axed.

"Bianca, you want to go into manufacturing, it is a giant leap from what you’ve been doing up until now," Sugar commented.

"Mark, you’re a man that’s done it before - whether you can do what you’ve done working for a company, is another story. Daniel, your business plan is a little all over the place, but you’re a man that is already doing it and just wants to grow it."

The 67-year-old claimed he was "struggling" to make a decision between Daniel and Mark, praising the former for becoming an "improved person" and the latter for having "confidence".

Ultimately, he decided: "Daniel, I don’t think that we’re going to go into business together, but I do wish you well, and it is with regret... Daniel, you’re fired."

The results leave Bianca and Mark battling it out to become Lord Sugar's latest apprentice and scoop the £250,000 investment prize.

Tune in to BBC One this Sunday night at 8.00pm to find out who triumphs in the final challenge.
