The Apprentice 2013 finalist Luisa Zissman breaks down in tears on tonight's show.
Luisa's task gets off to a slow start after Leah grabs the best of the candidates to make up her team.
Luisa’s team comprises Neil Clough, Zeeshaan Shah, Jason Leech and Natalie Panayi, with the baker saying: “Leah has taken the strong players, but as long as I can communicate my vision to them, I’m certain that we’ll get it done.”
She goes on to tell her team: “My business idea is to create a new baking brand, so cake tins, utensils, colours. We are a wholesale company, a traditional wholesale model.”
Luisa decides she should be the face of her brand, choosing pastel pink as the principal colour for both the logo and product packaging.
Meanwhile, Neil and Natalie conduct market research for Luisa, receiving feedback that the colour choice could be an issue for some consumers, with one member explaining, “It’s too gender specific really, isn’t it?” Neil briefs Luisa on their findings that the research group was more attracted to bold colours rather than pinks, and she should “stay away from the girly feel”.
Once both businesses have finessed their branding, they head back to the house for a night’s rest before starting work the next morning to produce their promotional videos.
Observing as ever from the sidelines, Nick Hewer remarks; “Luisa, who started out in the process as a bit of a nuisance, not getting on with team mates. And in fact, Lord Sugar said, are you trouble? But, here we are, the very end, she’s in the final, and her team warm to her, she warms to them - they are working as a great unit.”
On the third day of the task, the teams head off at 11am to make the final preparations before pitching their business launch campaigns to 100 industry experts and Lord Sugar himself.
It doesn’t go unnoticed by Nick that while Luisa should be busy perfecting her pitch, she instead throws herself into frosting cupcakes for the event.
Following Luisa’s presentation, opportunities for questions are opened out to the floor. She is asked about her expected profit in five years’ time, and while the entrepreneur begins to respond, she eventually stops and says “Do you know what, I can’t answer that. I’d just be lying.” Devastated, Luisa cries backstage after the pitch, taking comfort from her team members.
The Apprentice UK final airs tonight at 8PM on BBC One.
