Leah Totton and Luisa Zissman have been announced as the two finalists of The Apprentice 2013.
Tonight saw the final five pitch their business plans to some of Lord Sugar's closest aides - Claude Littner, publisher Mike Soutar, media mogul Claudine Collins and Lord Sugar’s trusted confidante Margaret Mountford - before heading back to face the boss in the penultimate boardroom.
In deciding the final two, Lord Sugar said: "Leah, you have got that unusual quality of being a good business person, but at the same time, a scientist and a doctor - which is a very unique combination, I have to say. On the moral aspect, you have done a good job of explaining [your business plan] to me, it’s in my head now, and I have to worry about how I would handle it. Ok. But, it is a concern. It is a concern.
"Luisa, there is a growing market for [your business plan]. My worry with you is you. Do I need the aggravation of somebody who is not going to listen, doesn’t like it when they’re told to do something else, not really. Not really. But, he’ll [Nick Hewer] tell you. He’s known me for a long long time. He knows I’m a little bit of a devil, and a gambler and risk-taker."
Speaking about the final two, Lord Sugar added: "Both a very big risk for different reasons, but life’s all about risks. Let’s see how they do in the final.”
Nick Hewer said: “Two very different characters. Both of those girls could make money for you.”
Karren Brady commented: “A good entrepreneur spots a gap in the market which is what Luisa has done, or spots an emerging market and that’s what Leah has done.”
She added: “I can’t tell you how pleased I am that your new business partner is going to be a woman.”
