The Apprentice 2013 ratings hit a series high last night, with 6.4 million viewers.

The ninth series got off to a shaky start last month, and some bizarre scheduling saw viewers fall to a low of 5.2 million viewers.

But ratings have been on the up, with 5.9 million watching last week's show, back in its usual Wednesday slot.

Last night's latest Apprentice 2013 results saw a surprise double firing, and it made for good viewing figures.

An average audience of 6.4 million watched the show between 9PM and 10PM, beating all rival channels at the time.

The seventh task, which saw the remaining candidates competing to sell caravans and camping accessories, peaked with over 6.5 million viewers.

Next week's latest episode will continue on Wednesday, 9PM on BBC One.

Meanwhile, over on ITV2, the latest instalment of The Only Way Is Essex continued to bring in some impressive numbers for the digital channel.

The new episode from the ninth series was watched by just under a million viewers from 10PM last night.
