Despite a shaky start last week, losing 800,000 viewers overnight for its double episode launch, the show rebounded for its third instalment.
An average audience of 5.7 million tuned in to the series overnight, up almost to the same numbers that were tuned in for the launch last Tuesday.
The BBC One series even triumphed over Chelsea's win in the Europa League Cup over on ITV, which attracted an average audience of 5.3 million for the match.
In fact, The Apprentice was last night's most watched TV show - excluding +1 channels - with only Corrie on ITV matching the numbers.
So far the ninth series of the Apprentice has averaged 5.6 million viewers across its three episodes.
The first official ratings for the show, which include those who caught up using the likes of Sky+, will be released on Monday.
The Apprentice 2013 continues next Wednesday 22nd May, 9pm on BBC One and BBC One HD
