Rory Taylor

Tonight's live Superstar semi final saw four contestants become three, as the finalists were revealed.

David Hunter lost out to Rory in the sing off, as he, Roger and Ben went on to tomorrow's last live show.

Rory Taylor from The Wirral sang In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins;

Jason Donovan said: “What an incredible opening song and what a great tone you have, this gave you the opportunity to showcase your voice and acting skills and you delivered a brilliant performance.”

Dawn French said: “You’re assured, you’re in control, you’re evocative, I can imagine you fronting a band, whether that’s after you play the role of Jesus I don’t know.”

Melanie C said: “Every show I’m so excited to find out what you’re singing, I knew this would be special and you are fast becoming one of my all time favourite singers.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “You are extraordinary and that was a fantastic performance, you’re a young Phil Collins. You’d be fantastic in this role - you’re voice is clear as a bell.”

Ben Forster from Sunderland sang Run by Snow Patrol;

Jason Donovan said: “That vocal stamina is absolutely insane, you are what this competition is all about. You’re a unique talent, watching you every night is an event.”

Dawn French said: “That was a showstopper. That was a heart-breaking sublime version, you have just played your trump card at the right moment.”

Melanie C said: “I just don’t know what else I can say, another extraordinary vocal from you.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “You’ve made that song your own, it was a wonderful performance, the lord is awed.”

Roger Wright from East London sang by Too Hard To Handle by Otis Reading;

Jason Donovan said: “Totes amazeballs, you just put a big smile on my face. You come back stronger every time and you are the spirit of this competition.”

Dawn French said: “We just had James Brown meets Elvis meets Otis Reading. You totally got on board with the band, you are the balance of this show and I order you stay in.”

Melanie C said: “You’ve got the moves and you were absolutely brilliant. You had loads of energy and it was loads of fun.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I deliberately stayed away from the song choices today and now I can see why you chose it. It was a wonderful showcase for what you can do. We have so few leading men in the theatre and tonight we’ve seen 3 so far.”

David Hunter from Warrington sang I Try by Macy Gray;

Jason Donovan said: “Another great master class in acting, combining those two elements together is difficult. You brought the song to life and your vocals are always great and you deserve a place in the final.”

Dawn French said: “You personalise every song in your own unique way, you’re always true to yourself.”

Melanie C said: “I absolutely loved your interpretation of that song and beautifully acted.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I now know we have 4 people that can absolutely play the role of Jesus, it was a really interesting performance for you, I just got so much from you there, you are the great actor/singer that the West End needs.”

Superstar will be back tomorrow night for the final - Wednesday 25th July at 2100hrs
