Jeff Anderson

The latest Superstar highlights saw yet another elimination, as the hopefuls performed once more time for the public vote.

Jeff Anderson from Newtonards, Northern Ireland sang Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones;

Melanie C said: “That was brilliant, I really enjoyed it and I’m seeing a new inner confidence in you and I like it.”

Dawn French said: “that was huge, and singing a Mick Jagger song – what big shoes to fill. I think you got a little bit lost there, it wasn’t as exciting as it could have been.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I feel that the energy was coming more from the dancers and not yourself, I feel you lacked a bit of the ‘Jagger’ energy.”

David Hunter from Warrington sang Nothing Compares To You by Sinead O’Connor;

Jason Donovan said: “I can’t fault that performance it was a great song choice and you’re a master at connecting with the audience, the only criticism I can say is that I can see your acting whilst singing, I’d like to see more of ‘you’.”

Dawn French said: “You are the actor in this competition, you’re a real gent and you can show many layers and you properly touched me with that performance.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I know you’re going to go a long way, you were so vulnerable in that performance.”

Rory from The Wirral sang Fix You by Coldplay;

Melanie C said: “This was your first ballad and I think you need to work on your acting within your songs, but you know I love you.”

Jason Donovan said: “That was a defining moment in Coldplay’s career and a great on in yours, it’s a tough song to sing, I think we’ve found shades of acting in you but you do need to work on the acting, but, I can’t fault that performance.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I got more and more thrilled as I listened to you, I made a new word – Rorynability and if there is such a word, you’re a testament to it.”

Nathan James from Reading sang Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers;

Jason Donovan said: “When you engage in the words and you keep them simple, absolute magic happens. I do worry about the vocal gymnastics, but that was another outstanding performance from you.”

Dawn French said: “Another controlled performance, you are a force of nature, I feel there’s a fight between your confidence and your ego and I don’t want your ego to win it.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I thought you did extremely well, when you believe in words you are truly extraordinary, please do remember to believe in the words as that’s the difference between a fantastic performer and a rock singer.”

Ben Forster from Sunderland sang Fast Car by Tracy Chapman;

Melanie C said: “You have a wonderful singing style, I wish you played it a bit more spoken, it was wonderful, I would relish the opportunity to play opposite you.”

Dawn French said: “Great storytelling, you can act, it was very seductive and you’re a very smart performer, I really want you to stay.”

Jason Donovan said: “That song gave me shivers and I think you really defined that less is more, you’re exciting to watch and you bring something different every night.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber: “I’m going to say something that I never thought I’d say, most musical performers act their part but you’ve done something extremely rare, you’ve acted but you’ve been yourself also, incredible.”

Niall Sheehy from County Wicklow, Ireland sang Wherever You Go by The Calling;

Melanie C said: “I’m not sure about tonight, I really enjoyed the acting side but vocally I think you’re falling behind the rest of the pack.”
Jason Donovan said: “You’ve got a lovely smile, you’ve got the Irish charm, but you have to be a little bit more consistent, the performance was good but you need to be outstanding, night after night.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “Acting wise you’ve come up a lot in the competition, I think you’re pushing yourself, I really do congratulate you on your acting.”

Jon Moses from Newcastle sang Feel by Robbie Williams;

Melanie C said: “You’ve come such a long way, the majority of the song was great, there was tricky notes. I think we need to see something a bit more up tempo.”

Dawn French said: “You are one of the most delightful men I have ever met, you are so willing and eager to learn but I think the nerves got to you a little bit tonight.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I think we went back to cabaret tonight and what did worry me is that there’s a slightly uncomfortable break in your voice but I do think you’ve made a fantastic journey.”

Roger Wright from East London sang Rolling In The Deep by Adele;

Dawn French said: “That song is bitter and angry, and you can act, thank god. More evidence in your favour for you to play the part.”

Jason Donovan said: “I was a little bit worried for you in the verses as there were a few tuning issues, there’s a new confidence in you and we’re starting to see the actor in you.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “Yes you could play the part, you were a bit out of puff and I’m worried that you need to be fitter to play this role, but it was a great performance.”
