Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber and ITV are reportedly hoping to land U2 star Bono for their new show Jesus Christ Superstar this summer.

The series will be on the hunt for a singer to play the lead role of Jesus for an arena tour of the musical.

Sir Andrew has already been confirmed as a judge, with Nicole Scherzinger also being tipped to take part.

The Sun claims that bosses are now hoping Bono will complete the panel of the two-week long series, due to air before the Olympics.

"It's definitely a long shot, there's no doubt about that," a source told the newspaper. "But Andrew is keen to get Bono on board and if anyone could pull off something like this, then it is him."

Auditions for the show took place in Cardiff yesterday.
