Strictly Come Dancing 2012 won't feature a performance at Blackpool Tower, it has been claimed.
The upcoming series will stick to its studio in London in a bid to cut costs, The Sun reports today.
The show originally filmed regular episodes from the iconic Tower Ballroom, but cut the performances in the city due to "logistical reasons" in 2005.
Strictly didn't return to Blackpool until 2009, where a special performance at the Tower has taken place the week before the final every series since.
But now it seems that once again Blackpool is out, with BBC bosses calling it a "mammoth logistical exercise".
One "disgusted" local told the newspaper: "I cannot believe Blackpool is being passed over when it has the best venue for Strictly.
"Everyone keeps going on about the BBC relocating to the north and being less London-centric but this move represents a betrayal of the north.”
The new series of [cat]Strictly Come Dancing[/cat] starts on BBC One in September.
Stars rumoured to be lined up for the show include Olympic star Beth Tweddle and The One Show host Chris Evans, while Darcey Bussell replaces Alesha Dixon on the panel.
