Strictly Come Dancing celebrity Russell Grant has said he'd rather "samba himself to death" than quit the show after tearing a cartilage in his knee last weekend. An MRI scan on Monday revealed the injury, but ambitious Russell has vowed to dance on tonight.
"My fans expect nothing less," he said today. "I can't go out with a whimper now. I just love doing Strictly more than anything I've ever done before. It is extraordinary the amount of love this has brought out in people."
But in an interview with The Sun, Russell admitted the injury was potential serious: "They thought it was internal bleeding, so you do worry. I could have injured myself for the rest of my life.
"I did feel it was over for me but I pushed it out of my mind. I've been clutching my crystals and rubbing them over my knee. If I don't have the operation now it could get worse. But I'd rather be voted out by the public than let something like this finish it for me. Samba's the most fabulous dance, but my biggest danger is having so much bounce in me. I just love it— I could dance for ever!"
