Strictly Come Dancing contestant Audley Harrison turned down the BBC dancing competition three times before finally agreeing to take part in the series this year, it has been revealed. Masculine Audley even admitted to laughing at fellow former boxer Joe Calzaghe for becoming a contestant 2009.
But giving in this year, Audley's now giving it all - and despite being a favourite for an early exit - is still i the competition come Week 5.
Olympic gold medalist Audley revealed: “It had to fit into my schedule. I hadn’t boxed all year and I wanted to sign up. I wouldn’t have been seen dead dancing on TV. But it has become acceptable.”
Audley, who is partnered with professional dancer Natalie Lowe, added: “You can’t really say something negative to a boxer. All I have to do is I pick up my left hand.”
