Strictly Come Dancing 2011 star Russell Grant has admitted that he's nervous ahead of tonight's first show, where Russell will take to the dance floor for the first time. Speaking to new! magazine, he described nerves as his biggest drawback on the show.
The TV astrologer will be one seven dancers making their first moves on the live shows tonight, while the other seven will follow tomorrow.
Following three weeks of practice, he confessed: “I’ve got rhythm and I understand tempo but I haven’t danced to the calibre that this is all about. The biggest drawback is nerves. Most of us are out of our comfort zones.
“You know what, I’m not a sportsman and competition has never, ever been in my blood or veins. There’s two reasons I’ve done this to get fit and to find joy."
He added that the intense training has already seen him lose weight: “I’m just doing it in my own time and if it comes off, great but it depends how long I stay on the show, doesn't it? But 2lbs is a good start.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One.
