Saturday and Sunday night saw Strictly’s annual traditional special in Blackpool.

In Sunday’s results, the scores from Saturday night’s dances were combined with the latest public vote to determine the bottom two dancers.

Those in the dance off were Michelle Visage and her partner Giovanni Pernice and Saffron Barker and her partner AJ Pritchard. After performing again for the judges it was Michelle who left Strictly this week.

Appearing on It Takes Two tonight, Michelle spoke about her departure after dancing a Couple’s Choice routine to Madonna’s Vogue.

“We went out in a blaze of gay glory,” Michelle said. “It was my honour and pleasure to go out on that dance and that performance.

“I wanted to shed light on a community that doesn’t get enough attention.”

She went on to hit back at critics, saying: “It is a dance despite the controversy online of people saying it’s not dancing, it’s posing and walking.

“No, just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s not a dance.

“It’s been around since the 60s. It’s just not known. It’s a fabulous dance.”

The clearly emotional star of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK added: “It wasn’t about the dance. It was about a statement. It was about love is greater than hate. It meant so much to be able to do this on a platform like Strictly.

“Don’t judge it before you know what it is.”

Michelle’s exit has left six celebrities on the Strictly Come Dancing line up.
