Aussie actor and singer Jason Donovan is set to join the line up of Strictly Come Dancing 2011, it has been revealed. The former Neighbours actor, who has sold more than 3 million records here in the UK, will also be involved in a ratings battle with pal Gary Barlow on The X Factor.
The two shows will go head to head on Saturday nights when Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
According to The Sun, Jason could earn up to £100,000 for the reality dancing contest if he manages to make it to the final in December.
And dancing should come easily to the stage star, who has previously appeared in West End musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
An insider told the tabloid this morning: "Jason is a great signing for Strictly. He still has a lot of fans from his days on Neighbours and his pop career, as well as new fans from his stage shows.
"He is also really good friends with Gary, so it will be interesting to see how their rivalry plays out."
Other stars lined up for the show include Sven-Goran Eriksson's ex Nancy Dell'Olio, former footballer Robbie Savage, astrologer Russell Grant and The One Show host Alex Jones.
Strictly Come Dancing 2011 launches during the last week of September.
