The former Lioness has represented the England woman’s team as well as Team GB at the Olympics.

Currently appearing as a pundit for the BBC at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Alex could soon be heading to the Strictly dancefloor.

The Sun reports that show bosses have been trying to tempt the sports star to join the line up.

A source said: “We really think 2019 is her year — especially given the success of the Lionesses.”

Alex previously revealed she was hoping for a spot on Strictly Come Dancing following her appearance on ITV’s Mission Survive.

She won the Bear Grylls survival show in 2016 and admitted she hoped Strictly could be her next challenge.

Speaking at the time, Alex teased: “Growing up, I always loved Strictly Come Dancing so if that one came knocking, I would definitely grab that with both hands.”

Meanwhile, other recently rumoured Strictly Come Dancing contestants include Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley.

It’s claimed the soap actress Catherine is in “advanced talks” with producers to sign up for this year’s cast.

Catherine herself recently hinted about taking part in the series, saying: “I adore Strictly — it’s one of my favourite ever shows.

“I would genuinely love to learn to dance, because I can’t dance.”

Also tipped for the ballroom are Olympic rower James Cracknell, Drag Race star Michelle Visage, Happy Mondays performer Bez, model Vogue Williams, former England manager Sam Allardyce and Blue Peter’s Radzi Chinyanganya.

Yet more celebs touted for Strictly Come Dancing are Tamara Ecclestone together with pop stars Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton.

Alongside the contestants, Strictly bosses are also casting for a new judge.

A spot on the Strictly panel opened up earlier in 2019 when Darcey Bussell made the shock announcement she was quitting.

Darcey has been a judge on Strictly for seven years, sitting alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and head judge Shirley Ballas.
