It was Stacey Dooley who won Strictly Come Dancing 2018, beating rivals Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer and Joe to lift the glitterball.

After the live show, Joe took to Instagram to celebrate the series – and reveal he and pro partner Dianne had become an item.

Sharing a cosy picture of himself and professional dancer Dianne, Joe wrote online: “I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special.”

Speaking at the National Television Awards this week, Dianne spilled all about the pair’s budding romance.

She said: “We just get on so well. I never ever thought it would happen. It’s been absolutely amazing. I’m really happy.”

Talking to OK!, Dianne went on to discuss currently working with Joe on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.

“It’s been great so far. The dancing is still exactly the same, and I’m still boss and get away with anything!” she laughed. “But it’s been great, and it’s great to have him there and it’s just a really nice environment.”

Joe himself didn’t attend the awards – where Strictly picked up the gong for Best Talent Show – instead enjoying a night off with his friends.

He posted to Instagram with a picture of his pals: “I’m not at the NTAs, I haven’t seen these losers for months! And I actually miss them. It’s my one day off and we planned to have dinner together before I even knew what the NTAs were.”

It was rumoured throughout last year’s the series that Joe and Dianne had grown close during the competition.

An insider claimed to the Daily Mirror while the show was on air: “Backstage they are inseparable even when they are not rehearsing. When they are sitting on sofas together there legs often intertwine and they are very tactile with each other.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One.
