Strictly Come Dancing ‘bans reality stars’ from this year’s line up

Strictly Come Dancing bosses have reportedly banned reality stars from taking part in this year’s series.

‘Celebs’ from shows like The Only Way Is Essex, Geordie Shore and Made In Chelsea have supposedly been ruled out of the cast.

Strictly returns to BBC One in the autumn and there have been loads of rumours about who will be on the show.

But The Sun newspaper claims that a number of the celebrities linked to Strictly haven’t actually been involved in discussions at all.

A source told the tabloid: “Certain reality celebrities have been peddling these stories about being ‘in talks’ for the show when they have never been approached.

“Bosses are now fed up of hearing the same people bandying around their own names just to shift a few copies of some weight-loss DVD. In light of this, they’ve put in place their own reality star ban to stop them from cashing in on the show.”

With reality stars seemingly ruled out, names Strictly Come Dancing bosses could sign this year include TV personality Anneka Rice, football pundit Chris Kamara and Radio DJ Maya Jama.

More potential Strictly 2018 celebs include soap stars Chelsea Halfpenny and Hayley Tamaddon plus breakfast TV presenters Piers Morgan and Dan Walker, who front ITV’s Good Morning Britain and BBC’s Breakfast respectively.

Hollyoaks star turned Oscar winner Rachel Shenton and The Chase’s Mark Labbett have also been tipped to take part in Strictly Come Dancing 2018, alongside former England footballer David James.

Meanwhile, the Strictly 2018 professionals have been confirmed with three new names joining the biggest line up ever.

Strictly Come Dancing will begin on BBC One in the autumn.
