Footballer Robbie Savage has described rumours linking him to Strictly Come Dancing 2011 as "premature". The footie star was linked at the weekend to the BBC One dancing show, but suggested that there was nothing more than "speculation" in the tabloid reports.
"I have heard the rumours though there is nothing to them apart from speculation at the moment," he told The Mirror.
However the former footballer confessed he would like to take part in the series, which starts in September on BBC One.
"My mum Val would be chuffed because it is her favourite show but then there's the fact that I don't look good in Lycra," he said. "After seeing me posing in my pants in the current William Hill ad campaign I think the British public might have suffered enough without having that spoiling their tea on a Saturday night. But my mates have told me I would be the first Strictly contestant who would be able to supply his own wardrobe."
Other stars linked to the new series include Chris Tarrant, Anita Dobson and Alex Jones.
