When does Strictly Come Dancing start this year?

The Strictly Come Dancing 2018 launch date has not yet been officially confirmed by BBC.

However the show is typically back in September time and that's unlikely to change again. The pre-recorded launch show often takes place the second Saturday of the month, which this year would be September 8.

Usually Strictly's live shows start the final weekend of the month, placing this year's Strictly Come Dancing air date around Saturday, September 22.

Who's on Strictly Come Dancing 2018?

While Strictly still has a while to go before launching, a number of celebs have been linked to the series.

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly "desperate" to sign X Factor star turned TV host Rylan Clark-Neal. "Rylan is charismatic and popular, and the bosses are sure he would be a huge hit on the show," a source told The Sun. “He is definitely one of their targets for 2018.”

The Chase's Mark Labbett has also been tipped to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, while Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter, drag act Courtney Act and X Factor winner Joe McElderry have all said they want to do the show.

Also rumoured have been Radio and TV host Maya Jama and actress Chelsea Halfpenny. Chelsea is the niece of Jill Halfpenny, who herself competed on Strictly in the second series and won the show.

Strictly bosses are said to be desperate to sign a Spice Girl for this year's series. Mel B is the favourite to say yes, according to reports. A source spilled: "Having a Spice Girl on this year's show would be a huge coup for the show's bosses."

More celebs tipped for the Strictly 2018 cast are reality star Joey Essex, TV personality Anneka Rice, Sky Sports pundit and Ninja Warrior UK host Chris Kamara and Hollyoaks star turned Oscar winner Rachel Shenton.

Yet more rumoured celebrities include Corrie's Catherine Tyldesley, DJ and TV presenter Vick Hope, the 2015 Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussein and boxing legend Frank Bruno.

Also rumoured have been TV actor and presenter Les Dennis plus former England footballer David James.

The BBC Has confirmed three new pros for 2018: They are Italian Latin Champion Graziano Di Prima, Professional South African Latin Champion Johannes Radebe and four-time winner of the Italian Dance Championship Luba Mushtuk.

But we have lost two Strictly pros: Brendan Cole, a series original, and Chloe Hewitt, who joined in 2016, will both be leaving the show.

Shirley Ballas will return as head judge on Strictly Come Dancing this year, it's been reported.

New judge Shirley joined Strictly Come Dancing last series in place of Len Goodman, who stepped down after a decade in 2016.

As well as taking over his seat on the panel, Shirley became the new head judge and had the casting vote in the dance off.

It's been claimed that Shirley be back return this autumn, recently meeting with show bosses to sign a new deal. She'll sit alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, and Bruno Tonioli.

“She met Strictly bosses this week to thrash out a deal," an insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper.
