Who won the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 Christmas special?

It was Katie Derham who won tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing 2017 Christmas special with an special festive performance.

Katie, who took part in the 13th series of Strictly, danced with pro partner Brendan Cole for the routine.

She was one of six in an all star cast of Strictly celebrities alongside Judy Murray (series 12); Kimberley Walsh (series 10); Colin Jackson (series 3), Robbie Savage (series 9) and Jeremy Vine (series 13).

Each couple then took to the dance floor for their own very special performance, each telling the story of they love most about Christmas.

Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and BrunoTonioli were joined by head judge Shirley Ballas in her first appearance on the Christmas special to mark the routines.

Those marks were then combined with votes from the studio audience to decide the winner of the 2017 Strictly Xmas special.

Speaking after her victory, Katie said: “Oh my goodness, I’m so stunned! I thought any of these gorgeous people were going to win, not us. This is brilliant. It feels fantastic, it really does!”

As well as the six celebrities’ solo routines, the all-star extravaganza opened with a truly magical group performance featuring the Trinity Boys Choir and the Christmas cast of 2017.

The icing on top of the Christmas cake was a special musical performance from the Kaiser Chiefs fit for Christmas Day and then to close the show in style, all the couples and judges took to the dancefloor once again for a Christmas party spectacular.

And finally this year’s Strictly Christmas Special included a festive feature from inside Buckingham Palace. Our Strictly family and members of the local community attended a Tea Dance highlighting the benefits of dance and exercise in the process of active ageing, hosted by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, complete with a beautiful performance from the Strictly professional dancers.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman hosted the special tonight on BBC One.
