Why Strictly Come Dancing’s ‘curse’ doesn’t bother Alexandra Burke

The Strictly Come Dancing curse doesn’t bother Alexandra Burke.

Over the years, Strictly has been blamed for ruining relationships with its so-called curse.

But Alexandra is sure her boyfriend won’t have any problem with her getting up close and personal pro partner Gorka Marquez.

She told the Radio Times: “Gorka is a brilliant teacher and probably one of the only people I’ve met with more energy than me.

“We trained 10 hours a day for the paso and doing him proud meant everything to me.

“It’s a good thing that my boyfriend is used to seeing me on stage with other men – when I first met him I was kissing two guys a night in Sister Act – because I hope Gorka and I get the chance to dance many, many more.”

Alexandra is competing in Strictly Come Dancing alongside her former X Factor rival Aston Merrygold.

The JLS star, who finished as runner up on The X Factor in 2008 behind Alex, has also dismissed the Strictly ‘curse’.

“All the girls are beautiful and so talented. It’s like Hollywood has been thrown onto the BBC,” he said this week. “I get the Strictly curse but I’m sure half the time it comes from a seed that gets planted somewhere from a fifth party and becomes embedded.

“Like someone reads a comment on Twitter and goes, ‘Oh, what I have done?’

“But not this year.”

Singer Aston told The Sun newspaper: “I think everyone is more than happy and concentrating on their dancing. I’m like, ‘Alright guys! No, I’m not! It’s all about the dance for me’.

“Janette is amazing and I went for dinner with her and Sarah the other day.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 airs Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One.
