And it seems she doesn't rate her chances at all after watching herself back.

Speaking on Loose Women about the launch, where she was partnered with pro dancer Anton Du Beke, Ruth said: "I looked like a baby elephant.

"I just jumped up and then I realised what I was doing… then I didn’t know how to get down."

She continued: "I’ve always wanted Anton and I’ve told Eamonn that before."

Ruth admitted she's not sure how she would handle the jealousy if it was her husband Eamonn who was competing.

"I’ve already said I’m a very jealous woman… imagine Eamonn rubbing up against one of those lovely young dancers," she said. "I always thought that they do really know who their partner is before the show but you really don’t."

Despite not being impressed by her own gracefulness, Ruth previously vowed to prove people wrong after she was installed as the bookies' least favourite to win.

"I thought, 'These odds are based on what?' They haven't even seen me dance yet and they think I'm rubbish," she told OK! Magazine. "I thought, 'I'm going to show them - I shall prove them wrong."

Ruth was the third of this year's celebs to be confirmed.

She said on signing up for the show: “I have dreamt about doing Strictly for so long, I can't quite believe my dream has come true!

"The sum of my dance experience is throwing a few shapes at a party, I've never had a dance lesson in my life.

"Without doubt it will be the scariest yet most exciting thing I've ever done. It will be a welcome change worrying about my next hot move instead of my next hot flush!”

Strictly returns to BBC One on Saturday, September 23 with its first live show.
