The ninth celeb contestant on the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast has been confirmed this afternoon.
The latest confirmed celeb is Susan Calman, a Scottish comedian, broadcaster and a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4.
She appears on The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth, Now Show, Dilemma, I’m Sorry I Haven't A Clue and So Wrong It's Right; and as well as radio has appeared in BBC One's new daytime shows, The Boss and Armchair Detectives.
Susan said: “Being on Strictly is a dream come true. Finally I can reveal all the moves I've been practising in my kitchen to the nation. I am an enthusiastic home dancer and now on Saturday nights I'll be dancing in other people’s homes in a (hopefully) entertaining way. I am terrified but excited to start my Strictly journey.”
Susan joins a growing list of celebrity contestants on the new series, with JLS singer Aston Merrygold the previous name confirmed yesterday.
Aston and Susan joined TV host Simon Rimmer, best-known for being the chef and co-presenter on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, and actor Joe McFadden, best-known for playing the role of Raffaello ‘Raf’ di Lucca in BBC One’s medical drama, Holby City, as confirmed contestants on the series.
Last Monday, The Saturdays' singer Mollie King became the very first name officially confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast. Mollie said: “I'm a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing so I can't actually believe I'm lucky enough to be taking part in it this year!"
Actor Davood Ghadami became the next name to be revealed on the Strictly line up by the BBC. Best known for his role as Kush Kazemi in EastEnders, Davood said, “Having the opportunity to take part in this year’s Strictly is such an honour. "
On Wednesday, host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth Langsford became the third name to be announced for the show while Thursday saw Actress Gemma Atkinson confirmed.
Alongside those officially announced, rumoured celebs for the new series include comic Brian Conley, Dame Joan Collins, Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock and footballer Frank Lampard.
There's also X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Robot Wars host Angela Scanlon, Bros singer Matt Goss, comic Joel Dommett and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe.
