Actor Ross Kemp has hinted that he's now up for doing Strictly Come Dancing - having previously turned down a place on the show.

The 53-year-old, best known for playing Grant Mitchell on EastEnders, revealed earlier this week that he almost said 'yes' to a previous series.

However, he changed his mind after a visit to Afghanistan put things in perspective for him.

"I love Strictly Come Dancing. I have been asked before," he told the Daily Star.

"I was going to do it. Then I got home from Camp Bastion after being shot at and thought, ‘No, don’t be so silly’."

The subject was brought up again during Ross's appearance on Loose Women yesterday - when he added that he'd "never say never" to the BBC dance contest.

Ross may now have more time in his schedule for Strictly after it emerged that his long-running series of documentaries has been axed.

Since 2004, he has presented several hard-hitting investigations for Sky 1, covering tough issues ranging from gangs to immigration.

However, Sky 1 recently confirmed that his current show 'Ross Kemp: Extreme World' will end after its sixth series.

"Going forward we are shifting away from commissioning factual shows on the channel," a spokesperson for the broadcaster said.

As for Strictly, the rumour mill has kicked up a gear with just weeks to go until it returns to our screens.

Recent reports suggest that The Saturdays singer Mollie King and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke are set to take to the dancefloor this year.
