Sir Patrick Stewart has revealed he's turned down Strictly Come Dancing.

The actor told Have I Got News For You on BBC One that he decided to pass after "the tone changed".

He explained: "Strictly Come Dancing, it's a wonderful show, it's delightful. I wanted to [do it] at the beginning.

"And then the tone, it changed somewhat, and I thought.... yeah, I'll pass."

Sir Patrick is far from the only celeb to turn down the show.

TV presenter Kate Humble recently revealed she too said no to Strictly Come Dancing.

The host of wildlife shows such as Animal Park and Springwatch had gone to meet with producers but freaked out over the thought of going under a Strictly makeover.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “When we got to the meeting, the more talk there was of sequins, make-up and Strictly Takes Two, the more I could feel myself pouring with sweat."

Kate said she felt close to having a panic attack "at the thought of wearing make up and dresses" before deciding the show was "just not me"

“There are so many people who love it and get so much out of it but I will stick to animals and being mucky. I am better at that. That’s more my comfort zone," Kate admitted.

Spice Girl Mel C previously claimed she'd also been asked to take part in the series but always said no.

Chatting to the Daily Star newspaper, Mel C explained: “Strictly is really the only one of those shows that I would consider and I have had a meeting with them – they ask me every year to do it."

“The problem is if you do Strictly it’s so high profile and you’ll find yourself in the sidebar of shame every day.”

She added: “And the money’s s***!”

Strictly airs on BBC One.
