The pair are reportedly on a list of potential contestants for this year's series ahead of an appearance on Saturday night’s Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief.
The couple will be performing as Cher and Meatloaf for the live BBC One series and sources claim it may prove to be an informal trial for a spot on Strictly.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “They’re great characters and everyone loves watching them just when they’re sat on their sofa.
“Dom has the potential to provide great routines like Ed did and Steph would be fantastic going up against the judges. They’re definitely on the list and this weekend’s show is a great way to see how they look on stage.”
They wouldn't be the first couple in Strictly's history with Gabby and Kenny Logan taking part together in series five in 2007.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: “Nothing has been confirmed for the next series of Strictly.”
Strictly Come Dancing will be back on BBC One later this year.
Other celebs rumoured already include Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock, footballer Frank Lampard, Olympian Jessica Ennis-Hill, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, actress Carley Stenson and comic Joel Dommett.
EastEnders actress Samantha Womack is also reportedly on the 'wish list' of stars for Strictly Come Dancing 2017, alongside her former co-star Rita Simons.
The on screen sisters had appeared on the BBC One soap for years but were both killed off on New Year’s Day in a shock story line.
