Watch Strictly Come Dancing 2016 Christmas special trailer ahead of festive special

Here's a first look at the Strictly Come Dancing 2016 Christmas special.

Once again, following the end of the main series, the Strictly judges will return for one last appearance this year on Christmas Day.

This year the theme is Christmas movies and there will be a line up of six former Strictly contestants returning to the dance floor.

Those taking part are Ainsley Harriott, Pamela Stephenson, Gethin Jones, Denise Lewis, Melvin Odoom and Frankie Bridge.

In the show, the couples will each pay tribute to one of the most memorable Christmas films of all time in a brand new routine as they competing for the trophy.

"The night promises to be a spectacular celebration of the movies that families love to watch at Christmas," say the BBC.

Settle down with a mince pie and some popcorn and enjoy Strictly themed routines based on classics like Home Alone, The Polar Express, Love Actually, Meet Me in St Louis, Elf and Frozen, which will make its TV premiere on Christmas Day on BBC One too.

Meanwhile, the Strictly judges embrace the Christmas spirit as they get into costume as their favourite Christmas movie characters while Len Goodman makes his LAST EVER appearance on Strictly as a judge.

Plus, if that wasn't enough, Matt Goss performs White Christmas and there are two group performances from the entire Strictly cast.

The Strictly Come Dancing 2016 Christmas Special airs Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25 at 6:45PM on BBC One.
