Strictly Come Dancing's Blackpool special was watched by 11 million people in last night's ratings.

An average audience of 10.97 million tuned in for the latest live show, a series high for this year's run.

The episode peaked with close to 12 MILLION viewers as the final seven celebrity couples danced for the latest time this year.

The Strictly show was up 700,000 viewers on both 2015 and 2014's equivalent episodes.

X Factor viewing figures

Over on ITV and overlapping with Strictly Come Dancing once again, The X Factor's viewing figures remained in-line with last week with 6.1 million viewers, close to half of Strictly's total.

An average of 6.13 million tuned in to the Movies themed episode, the second most watched live show this year after the first week.

But the episode was down 700,000 viewers on 2015 and 1.6 million on 2014's shows.

The X Factor was actually beaten in the 8PM hour by BBC One's new entertainment series Michael McIntyre's Big Show which had 6.18 million viewers.

Meanwhile, the latest I'm a Celebrity highlights from the jungle had an average audience of 8 million viewers tuning in from 9:25PM, a rise of 600,000 on last year's equivalent episode.

Elsewhere last night, Holly Willoughby's Meet The Parents on ITV posted one of its better ratings with 2 million viewers while an unscheduled repeat of Pointless had 4.3 million watching BBC One at 6PM.
