Strictly Come Dancing's Danny Mac opens up about "tough" week after personal problems

Danny Mac has told how Strictly Come Dancing helped him through a "tough" week after personal problems.

The Hollyoaks actor didn't go into details but credited the BBC One series with allowing him to escape from the troubles.

Danny and pro partner Oti Maubse topped the scoreboard last Saturday night with their Argentine Tango.

"It was the most focused and concentrated I had been on a dance," Danny admitted last night, "because, as people may have seen, I had a bit of a tough week that week personally.

"So the dance was my escape from that. I threw everything into it and Oti was just amazing with me and we just got on with the work.

"That... was fantastic, and, for me, really helpful. It was like, that's all I would think about because that's all I could let myself think about," Danny told It Takes Two.

Danny's pro partner Oti added: "I knew what was going on, and regardless of everything he threw himself into training.

"We were in those characters the entire week. We didn't even argue!"

Danny also took to Twitter to thank fans after the bad week, saying: "I've had a tough week personally but I really appreciate all your support. It means the world to me. x"

This weekend it's off to Blackpool where Danny and Oti will be dancing the Charleston to ‘Puttin’ On The Ritz’ by Gregory Porter.

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday night at 6:55PM On BBC One.
