He is one of six former celebrity contestants who will be back for the one-off festive special on Christmas Day.
Gethin, who made the semi-final in 2007 will be joined by Olympian and presenter Denise Lewis, Pop star Frankie Bridge, Writer and actress Pamela Stephenson, Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and Radio and TV host Melvin Odoom
"I might be sore from practising but I’m so excited to get back on that dancefloor this Christmas," Gethin said this month.
Speaking in his column for TV Magazine, Gethin continued: "As I write this I’m glad to sit down after four hours straight of dance practice.
"Being asked to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special is amazing."
He continued: "To say I’m rusty is an understatement but I’ve definitely been inspired by this year’s lot."
Gethin will be dancing with new pro dancer Chloe Hewitt for the Christmas special, which will air on BBC One on Christmas Day.
All six couples will each perform an enchanting and magical routine in a bid to be crowned Christmas champions 2016 and lift the famous Silver Star trophy.
Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the Strictly Christmas Special wouldn’t be complete without the festive foursome of Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and in his last appearance on the judging panel Len Goodman who will all be on hand to bring some joy and festive cheer.
The icing on top of the Christmas cake will be a spectacular music performance.
