Sir Bruce Forsyth has left Strictly Come Dancing for good

Sir Bruce Forsyth has bowed out of his Strictly Come Dancing hosting duties for good.

While Sir Brucie had left the main show back in 2013, he had been set to continue fronting the one-off Christmas and Charity specials.

But the legendary TV presenter's last appearance was back in November last year and, after suffering a fall, he won't be returning to the show this festive period.

Main show hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will both front this month's Children In Need special as well as Christmas Day's episode.

Now, in an exclusive interview with ITV's This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Lady Wilnelia Forsyth has spoke of her husband’s recovery.

Despite leaving Strictly, Bruce is doing "wonderfully" according to his wife of 30 years.

Wilnelia told the show yesterday: "Especially the last couple of weeks, he’s been really really good and I wanted to take this opportunity to say to the people ‘thank you’… we’ve had so many wonderful letters and phone calls and good wishes for him and I do believe in all this energy and positive thinking… and he’s doing really really well.”

Phillip asked, “We miss him! He’s a man that was born to perform. So it must be frustrating for him?”

Wilnelia replied, “Is it. OK, he’s 88, and usually a man of his age had retired but he's been active until just recently and it is very hard.”

While we won't see Brucie on Strictly this year, Wilnelia teased he probably won't resist the urge to be back on TV soon.

She said: "You know, I don’t expect him to go tap dancing… but he loves the showbusiness and I’m sure with a little bit of luck, he should be back."
