Laura Whitmore and Ore Oduba were bottom two in tonight's Strictly Come Dancing 2016 results.

It was the second appearance in the dance off for Laura but the first time for Ore who is a favourite to win, prompting shock from viewers.

On Saturday, Ore and pro partner Joanne Clifton performed a Salsa to ‘Turn The Beat Around’ by Vicki Sue Robinson to score 34 points from the judges.

Laura and her pro dancer Giovanni Pernice had performed the Samba to ‘Bamboleo’ by Gipsy Kings, scoring 32 marks from the judges.

As usual, the results from the public vote were added to the judges' scores to decide the bottom two in the dance off tonight.

First to be announced as in the dance off was Ore, prompting a surprised reaction from the live studio audience.

"It's not nice, but it's the competition and you know this week could be your week to go. We're going to put everything into doing it again," Ore told host Tess Daly.

Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli encouraged: "This guy is brilliant, don't change a thing, do exactly as you did, you're a fantastic dancer. Don't doubt yourself, you've nothing to doubt."

Laura was second to be called out as in the dance off. She told Tess following a mistake in her routine on Saturday: "I want to do that dance again and just do it the way I can do it."

Both Laura and Ore then reprised their Saturday night dance for the judges, who decided who should stay in the competition.

And it was a unanimous decision as the panel all backed to keep Ore over Laura, meaning she bowed out of the competition.

Strictly Come Dancing 2016 returns next Saturday and Sunday night with the latest live show.
